Pico
A private Android app for collecting reference photos with their sources and adding approved photos to Google Photos.
What Pico does
Pico helps its owner collect still images for drawing reference while keeping each image’s source and credit, with a human approval step before anything is uploaded.
- The owner shares a link (a public Reddit post, a webpage, or a direct image) to Pico from Android’s share sheet.
- Pico downloads the supported still images on the phone and adds the source and attribution it finds to each file.
- Each photo waits in Pico’s review list. The owner picks an album and approves it, or rejects it.
- Pico uploads only approved photos, to Google Photos albums that Pico creates.
Pico also shows the owner’s photo library for drawing reference, with pins and search, and keeps the owner’s Google Drive folders in order.
How Pico uses Google
Pico runs on the phone and signs in with the owner’s Google account. It requests permission to:
- Google Photos: add approved photos and create albums for them, and view albums and photos that Pico created. Pico cannot read photos or albums created outside Pico.
- Google Drive: read the owner’s folders, and create the folders the owner lists in Pico’s settings. Pico never renames, moves, or deletes anything in Drive.
What stays on the phone
Pico has no server. Shared links, downloaded images, the review list, settings, pins, and Google sign-in credentials stay on the phone. Images go to Google only when the owner approves them. If the owner turns on optional attribution research, Pico sends the text of the source webpage to OpenRouter; it never sends image bytes.
Access
Pico is a private personal tool, not a public service. It is not on Google Play and has no public registration.
Privacy and contact
The Pico Privacy Policy explains the information Pico processes, how Google user data is used and protected, what stays on the device, service providers, and how to revoke access.
